“Did you keep in contact with Michael’s wife after she cheated with you?” Summer asked me out of the blue.

We lay basking in the afterglow of sex, thinking, What now? She’d thrown her right thigh on my right one, and she’d laid her head on my chest. There was some light touching between the two of us. The heavy rain falling outside had replaced the music that had come through the Bose speakers in the walls of her home.

I looked down at her and wondered where the hell that question had come from. “What?”

“Did you still talk to her after she screwed you?” There was something in her voice that I couldn’t readily pick up on, but if I was a betting man, I’d say it was contempt for Sadi.

“Why?”

She shrugged and then glanced up at me. “Just want to know.”

“She called me a few times after.”

“You never called her?”

“No. What reason would I have to?”

“So you didn’t like her at all?”

“Liked her enough to get what I wanted, but that was it.”

“Oh.”

“Why? Did Michael tell you otherwise?” I asked her.

“No. Was curious, is all.”

I had to chuckle. Summer was as transparent as Saran Wrap. I’d seen that she and Michael were friends on Facebook now. He followed her on Instagram too. Nigga liked every picture he could find of her. I believed if he could have, he would’ve liked the pictures with her ass to the camera twice. He made slick comments to her. Ones with sexual innuendos in them that a regular person wouldn’t notice if he or she was looking at them. But as a man who knew Michael almost better than he knew himself, I had picked up on it instantly.

I’d seen that she’d gone through his pictures too. Thing with Michael was, he didn’t believe in sharing his family with the world. So there were only pictures of him showcasing his arrogance. A shirt off here, which meant he was flexing his prowess at the gym. Sweats hanging low in another picture, which obviously meant he was showcasing his abs and the print of his dick. Michael was into himself like that.

Sadi was on his friends list, but if you didn’t know them, then you didn’t know they were married, judging by his Facebook page, although she had pictures of Michael on her page. Neither of them would put their kids on their pages. Had always wanted to keep that part of their lives private. Sadi posted little words of affection on Michael’s page, which he would respond to, but obviously, Summer couldn’t see them, because she wasn’t friends with Sadi.

I could look at Summer and tell that Michael had left an impression on her. She’d gone from disliking him, because of his connection to me, to being curious about his wife. Clear indication that he’d stirred that female competitiveness with other women within her. While she wondered about me and Michael’s wife, I thought back to the disagreement we’d had while at Underground Atlanta. I shouldn’t have snapped at her, but I’d been that angry and annoyed.
